Call for posters
CARLA 2019 offered the opportunity to submit short papers for its poster session. Posters provide a chance to present research work in progress to experts in the field and receive valuable feedback. The session also encourages networking and discussion among peers, which may lead to possible collaborative efforts in the region.
Submitted works were judged based on their originality, methodological quality and preliminary results. Accepted works were included in a special volume of the journal Tecnología en Marcha, which is indexed in SciELO and in the Clarivate Analytics Emerging Sources Citation Index.
Program
CARLA 2019 featured two exciting tracks: High Performance Computing (HPC) and BioInspired Processing (BIP). The second is a new addition to the regular CARLA program and focuses on the synergies between the biological sciences and computer science. These synergies are bidirectional. On one hand, bioinspired computing applies computational paradigms inspired by the biological sciences, such as genetic algorithms, cellular automata and neural networks, to solve a large variety of problems across multiple domains. On the other hand, computer science has been applied successfully and is now considered indispensable for solving many biological problems. In both cases, the complexity of biological systems often requires HPC to tackle realistic problems where both the amount of data and the number of relationships among data elements can be monumental.
The conference program includes keynote and invited talks from academia and industry, full paper and poster sessions presenting mature work and new ideas in research, workshops, tutorials, discussion spaces and more.
